June 2018

I'm just remembering now, as I look back at the camera roll, how June is always our crazy month. Probably our funnest one, but also our busiest. Here's a smattering of what we did! (Also, after attempting 2x the pictures are still out of order which I apologize for. Use your imagination).

The afternoon that school let out for the summer we flitted home for the first big hike of the season; Mt Abe!

Kids did awesome, I was the one lagging

We all made it! And had perfect weather, the trail pretty much to ourselves (until descent)

Mystic, CT to check out the Seaport

Solstice camping in Esme

We had a wonderful time camping this year. Perfect weather, good mix of friends and family, and the food didn't burn

Annual "packing up to leave" photo on the Adams popup

Was a bit cold for ice cream but we soldiered through

This past Saturday we went to cheer on our pastor who ran his first 1/2 marathon. Hard to get up at 0500, but we were rewarded with great views and weather.

Cheering on the runners

Steve and the kids reboarded the shed and painted it

Uno obsession has hit both kids hard.

A big change coming our way: I'm teaching kindergarten next year! And Hudson will be going to school. Had to celebrate/soothe the jangled nerves after picking up all my curriculum. And no, this is not even remotely in my career plan or official training, but somehow it's fitting in nicely with a lot of our needs and past experiences, so we're giving it a whirl. Equally excited and terrified.

Back to VT at the beginning of the month. Did I mention the weather was PERFECT?!

Views from the top

Meg and Nate came to provide moral support/listen to my kids (thank you!!!!)

He refuses to learn to ride a bike, so instead he roams the streets on this

Annual strawberry picking trip where they had baby goats

Steve ran his first 10K, a work sponsored event, so we appointed ourselves the official cheer squad and encouraged them all on to greatness.

He did fantastic!

Back in Mystic, they were having a Vikings event

You get to go on all the ships, even help haul in the launchboat. Very fun

Listening to the cooper explain his craft

Viking encampment!

We were in CT for the day to attend Rick and Megan's wedding. A lovely affair that was sweet and simple and ended up being a ton of fun.

The Thompson's

An adorable couple

When you ask for a photo, this is what you get....

Home for Father's Day. The kids have the best one ever.

He elected to go hiking at Purgatory Chasm. There were tears from both kids, but they ended up doing great on the rock climbs and wiggling through the tunnels.

It was HOT

And then we decided it was time to rip out our kitchen. With no real plan of how to reassemble it.....

Back to camping....

Bother Nature

Meghan brought the highlight of the trip, sparklers

A rousing game of Go Fish

The whole gang

More destruction. I actually have a plan now that I love. Unfortunately the electricians are so swamped they're asking insane prices. So we might just have dangling wires for the next few years.

New obsession. This stuff is divine!!

VBS week; Henri was camper of the week for the older kids

.....and Hudson got it for the younger. A little embarrassing that both got it, but they did put in a ton of work so I was proud of them. Any myself. Teaching a 4 year old daily verses isn't a vacation!

Back in Bristol, RI for the race....

Kids hunted shells while we waited for Kai and Colin to run past

On Sunday all the kids and the VBS helpers sang in service. Both kids look forward to this all year (must be Steve's influence, I hated singing in front).

Shed coming along

So you know how we watched the 1/2 marathon? Well, Colin's running another in September. And he wants Steve to join him. And somehow a group of us got each other pumped up....and now there are 10 of us training to run the 1/2. In twelve weeks. The most I've run consecutively is 3.1. Prayers very much appreciated.
We're in the midst of a nasty heat wave, as is the rest of the country I think. No big plans for this week except a cookout on Wednesday. And of course running. Blech. I think July is going to be our calmest month this summer, so looking forward to lazing about with books and lesson prep.
